Carleton University's Women's and Gender Studies Program seeks applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor, beginning July 1, 2013 or as soon as possible thereafter. We are looking for candidates in any one of three areas: digital media/popular culture, gender and health, and gender, identity and power. For all of these areas we are seeking scholars with a focus on transnational/global perspectives. Preference will be given to candidates with the ability to teach in the areas of feminist theory and feminist methods. Duties and responsibilities: teach 2.5 credits per year (two courses one semester and three courses in the other), courses will range from introductory to graduate level; must be able to teach core required courses (Introduction to Women's and Gender Studies; Feminist Theory (graduate and undergraduate) or Feminist Research/Methodology (graduate and undergraduate), Activism, and Critical Intersections); active research agenda/plan; administrative duties (service on the Institute Board and on standing committees); participate in curriculum development; participate in recruitment activities; graduate thesis supervision and graduate committee memberships. Required qualifications: Ph.D. in Women's Studies or related field; evidence of scholarly productivity; evidence of teaching innovation; experience teaching at the undergraduate level. Applications must include all of the following: a letter of application; a current CV, including the names and contact information of at least three references; a one-page statement describing how your work reflects feminist goals and practices; a one-page statement on teaching innovations and pedagogy; a sample syllabus for an undergraduate class, either one you have taught or one you might propose to teach; three letters of reference to be sent upon request to the Chair of the Search Committee.
