Our colleague, Homa Hoodfar, Professor of Anthropology in the Department of Sociology and Anthropology at Concordia University, was arrested on June 6th in Iran and has not had access to her lawyer or family or much-needed medication. Based on reports from Amnesty International, international news sources, and from her family, colleagues and friends, it is clear that she has been wrongfully arrested. CASCA has been coordinating its efforts with the Concordia Faculty Association (CUFA), the Canadian Sociological Association (CSA), the International Union of Anthropological and Ethnological Sciences (IUAES), the World Council of Anthropological Associations (WCAA), and the Canadian Association of University Teachers (CAUT).
Homa Hoodfar's family issued a statement, which you can read here.
Write a letter to your MP. The CUFA offers a template that you can download here and send to your MP.
